“The Daily Show” skyrocketed with "Weed" Stewart

MarihuanaAssassinOfYouth

Hey, Maryjane, there's been quite a lot of talk about  the benefits of grass to be able to use dope/weed for medicinal purposes, but it worked for American TV to show families stoned...
"Complete prohibition of all chemical mind changers can be decreed, but cannot be enforced, and tends to create more evils than it cures."
- Aldous Huxley "Drugs That Shape Men's Minds," Saturday Evening Post 1958
WEED - Sense: Marijuana -

How many of these words have you come across?
pot  - smoke - grass - Maryjane -  cannabis  -  - ganja  - hash  -   loco weed -
.
PART1. TODAY 12/02/15,
John Stewart quits  The Caily Show on Central Comedy.
“Did you ever see ‘Scent of a Woman’….on weeeed?”                    - he asks his dealer
Viewership for “The Daily Show” skyrocketed as  John Stewart transformed the show from a funny-enough “Weekend Update”-meets-“Talk Soup” to a comedy juggernaut that steered the media-political conversation, spawned spin-offs and launched careers (Steve Carell, Ed Helms). “The Daily Show” was suddenly a new generation’s must-watch so popular that an older generation of people took notice, if only to wring their hands and ask: This is how our kids are getting their news?
But before Stewart became a late-night icon, he was just your run-of-the-mill stand-up comic, trying to find a toehold in the industry

Stewart as one part of a large ensemble in 1998′s “Playing by Heart,” a romantic drama that also featured Sean Connery and Angelina Jolie, of all people.
Jon Stewart born to be an outlandish comedian.

A slightly better fit was the bit part of the “enhancement smoker” he played in cult classic “Half Baked,” a guy who feels that everything, from staring at a $20 bill to watching a movie, is always more fun with a little marijuana.
“Did you ever see ‘Scent of a Woman’….on weeeed?” he asks his dealer.

PART2. Who knew?

7th heaven pot smoking  -season 2 -ep 4

Any familiar comments ... at home?
  • Lucy: Mom and Dad are smoking pot!!!

  • Mary: No wonder Mom's so happy all the time. I mean, think about it! She's always in the kitchen baking something!
  • Tod: I would never smoke pot, I hear it lowers your sperm count.
Eric is absolutely positive he knows which of his kids owns a wed joint that is dragged into the house by Happy, but Annie warns him not to jump to conclusions.

Desperate to keep all of them in one place while he searches, Eric forbids Mary and Lucy from having guests after supper, but changes his mind in order to question Lucy's new boyfriend, Rod, about drugs. Lucy finds a joint in Annie's dresser drawer, and she and Mary suspect their parents are "stoners."

Eric eventually confronts Matt about the joint he found and while Matt admits he brought it back, he swears he had no intention of smoking it. Eric isn't convinced and drives Matt out of the house, only to see him at the church confessing, making Eric realize he was wrong about everything and promises from now on he will listen to whole story before making a final conclusion.

Eric: [ 01:30 - to Matt] What were you thinking?! It's bad enough you're smoking dope, but then you had to bring it in here where someone else could find it. What if one of the younger kids had found it first?
Matt: I didn't think...
Eric: That's just it, you didn't think, because if you thought of anyone besides yourself, you'd know that the look you just saw on Simon's face was the look of a boy who has lost all respect for his older brother!  [ 01:50]
Matt: : [ 02:02 - to Eric]  That's not why!
Eric: I'm not finished! Just answer me one thing, it will help me sleep better. Just tell me you wanted to get caught? Because you couldn't have possibly expected to get away with this. Or better yet, tell me why anyone could be so stupid as to do drugs in the first place!?
Matt: I don't know, Dad! Why don't you ask Mom? Maybe she can esplain it to you!
Eric: Don't you dare bring your mother into this. Apologize right now! [Someone honks a car horn outside, waiting for Matt] Oh, you're not going anywhere.
Matt: Well, I'm not staying here. [leaves] [ till 02:52]
