IL Nome- Italia etimologia

 

“Fatta l'Italia, bisogna fare gli italiani” 

 questa frase, associata in genere, a Massimo D'Azeglio indica una entità ed un nome: Italia.

17 marzo 1861, nasce l'Italia unita moderna.  Ma il nome?

 contestare un'idea di un luminare nel campo della etimologia è un po azzardato ...

• Secondo Giovanni M. Semerano, filologo e linguista, il nome Italia deriva dall'accadico "atala" col significato di "occidente, tramonto", in quanto territorio ad ovest delle terre mesopotamiche.
• una delle Grazie Thalia che e' associata alla coltivazione del vino (anche in Italiano "innesto di buona qualita di vite" si puo' dire talea). In latino "Ici" abbreviato ad "I"=qui se dici I-Talia=Italia significa "qui buon vino"
• attuale Calabria era abitata da un popolo che aveva quale totem il vitello e furono pertanto chiamati dagli Elleni colonizzatori della zona (v)ituli; da qui il nome della regione in Vitulia; con la scomparsa della Vau (lettera del greco arcaico) Vitulia è diventato Itulia/Italia

•  Notare che i Vituli erano una tribù degli Enotri, cioè abitanti dell'Enotria che in Greco voleva dire "terra del vino" da qui il termine Enotria anche questo anticamente usato per dare nome all'Italia dell'estremo Sud.

Per caso, sarebbe stata accettabile la teoria del Semerano se un nome simile comme Iberia...
